It also refers to students who are absent for reasons beyond their control, like sickness and injury, it is culpable which means that it is blameless. Absenteeism is not only limited up to being absent from work , and it also includes a kind of behavior like coming late, going early, going show at work, extending lunch breaks etc.
On the other hand chronic absence is the context of the school and it is the habitual or intentional failure from going to school. It cannot be denied that every now and then, students may miss some school activities and lessons. But it becomes a problem if the student will be away from school for many days. Chronic absentee students are placed at disadvantages both socially and academically. They miss out critical stages of social interaction and development with their peers and at the same time impacts negatively on their academic progress. This can result to self- esteem, social isolation and dissatisfaction could well have precipitated non- attendance in the first place.
In addition, absenteeism in students affects their school performances especially when they are in a group or teamwork for their assignments and projects. DESCRIPTION:
Based on Timothy Kate Community Relations Coordinator Eneze Education Ltd. the absenteeism is caused by many factors. First, Phobic Adolescence. During this stage in the growth of a teen, there’s a lot of fear developed as a result of physical turbulent emotions and etc. Students could be lacking interest in the study. Which could be as a result of content that is difficult for them to grasp hence pushing the away from school. Schools should strive to have update learning facilities as well as supporting facilities to make students enhance retention, because if we don’t stop the student from his or her absences it will become his/her habitual pattern. Causes of absenteeism may include,
Serious accident and may be ill
Personal problem (financial, marital, substance abuse, child care)
Stress
Society also suffers when school-age children are not in school. These children may hang out on the streets. Since they have nothing to do, they resort to petty crimes like stealing other people’s belongings and property. Others may become addicted to drugs or engage in other destructive behavior. Thus, if a student keeps away from school for too long, he may grow up to be a liability to his community and his country as a whole.
It is the aim of every school to lessen, if not eradicate, absenteeism among its students. One way of addressing this problem is to identify the causes of truancy. Once they are singled out, understood, and analyzed, these issues may be addressed with specific actions and measures. This will eventually result in the better performance of the students, teachers, and the school in general. It is in this context that this action research was undertaken, that is, to identify the causes why the grade VI students in this school absent themselves from their classes. The one who benefits this project are those students who always get involved in absenteeism. They would benefits the possible outcome of this particular program. They will inform and might be provided more update and educational ideas why we need to minimize absenteeism.

Since most of the children in the school come from poor families, point out to them the cheap but healthy foods. Ask them to pass on this information to their parents. Give extra attention to those who are left behind in the lessons. Tap the bright pupils to teach their slower classmates. In other words, cooperative learning should be practiced in the teaching-learning process. Once a slow student fully understands the lesson, he/she can keep up with his/her other classmates, thus self-confidence is gained.

The scope of our study is the students, school, administration, parents and teachers. We will also be using our resources so the finding for this project will be close to none and it will be maintain and obtain its mission and vision. We will also be using free services already offered by our WordPress.com
